Are you looking for a work truck that stands out from the crowd? You’re in luck.
Featured on AutoHunter is this 22k-mile 1991 Dodge Ram 350 4WD being sold by a dealer in St. Louis, Missouri, and the auction will end on Friday.
While red paint is popular on sports cars and exotics, you don’t usually see it on pickups. The backstory, according to the listing, is that the truck was originally ordered for a fire department. Add-ons to the already eye-catching exterior include a Buckstop front bumper, a color-matched shell, and 16-inch black-finished wheels wrapped in meaty General Grabber tires.
The first generation of the Ram pickup was produced from model year 1981 through 1993 on the Chrysler AD platform. A sales training video from 1991 said, “Dodge Ram pickup trucks deliver strength and value – a necessary combination when answering a truck buyer’s needs.” Since those needs could vary widely, Dodge offered everything from a light-duty 150 half-ton all the way to a Cummins diesel-powered one-ton 350. Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) ratings were offered up to five tons. There was a Ram for everyone.
Today’s featured 350 is a one-ton truck with four-wheel drive, and it draws power from a 360ci V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Dodge rated this combo from the factory at 190 horsepower and 292 lb-ft of torque when new. The listing says the truck is set up to tow 10,400 pounds, and a Kelsey-Hayes trailer brake controller is equipped. In other words, the truck is ready to report for duty – no matter what the hauling or towing needs entail.
The CARFAX is clean as a whistle, showing ownership in Illinois back to new and corroborating the current 22,741-mile odometer reading. Even more interesting to me is the rate at which the truck accumulated (or rather, didn’t accumulate) miles over the last decade or so. In 2013, mileage was recorded as 22,183. That means that over 11 years, the truck drove only 558 miles. It would be interesting to find out more about the story there.
The good news is that earlier this year, the truck received work to the distributor, battery, and charging system. It is ready to jump in and go!
The auction for this 22k-Mile 1991 Dodge Ram 350 4WD will end Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. (MST)
