A woman drove her car into a tree on I-80 early Saturday morning, killing her passenger and injuring herself, according to California Highway Patrol.
The woman was driving a gold Toyota Corolla westbound on I-80 near the Willow Avenue offramp when she collided with the large tree. California Highway Patrol and emergency personnel arrived on the scene around 12:45 a.m., and pronounced the male passenger dead.
The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for major injuries, but is expected to recover.
No other cars were involved in the crash.
