“On the 1955 Ford, the feeling of motion has been built right into the basic shape of the car itself,” Ford proclaimed in a commercial. The side of the car was characterized by a sweeping piece of side trim, and the hooded headlights gave the front end aerodynamic flair. An “all-around” windshield added to enhanced visibility, and the car was said to be as nice to drive as it was to look at.

The Pick of the Day is a 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Rancho Cucamonga, California. (Click the link to view the listing.)

“Fantastic restomod,” the listing begins. “Looks incredible and drives like a dream.” The car is beaming with curb appeal: From the Black Cherry paint job, to the American Racing wheels, to the sleek AccuAir suspension, the sense of style is strong with this one.

In 1955, Ford had a wide variety of model offerings. In fact, one of the advertisements said, “For 1955, Ford brings you the widest choice of models in its history: 16 beautiful body styles (plus the Thunderbird) – all with stunning new Luxury Lounge interiors. Three more powerful engines, each with Ford’s new exclusive Trigger-Torque performance. Why not test-drive a Ford soon?”

The Fairlane Victoria was a two-door hardtop with no B-pillar when the windows were rolled down (a similar look to what Chevrolet was doing with its popular hardtop Bel Air). It was touted for having convertible openness with closed-car comfort. The interior of this car has all new two-tone leather, low-back bucket seats, a center console, new weather stripping, and a tilt steering wheel. The package is a well thought-out, unique, and attractive blend of old and new. The seller says that the car has only been driven about 1,000 miles since the build was completed, so it’s ready to cruise and enjoy.

Under the hood is a 347ci stroker V8 that is reportedly rated at 300 horsepower. Upgrades include an Edelbrock 500-cfm dual-feed carburetor, March Performance pulleys, a cross-flow radiator, dual transmission coolers, rack-and-pinion power steering, and a new fuel tank and lines. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a nine-inch limited-slip rear end with a four-link setup. Braking is handled by power four-wheel discs.

This fancy Ford is about to turn the big 7-0 next year, and it’s ready for a new home to start its next chapter in life. Start making room in your garage today for a Black Cherry showpiece!

The asking price is $72,500 or best offer.
