Authorities on Monday identified two people who died in recent motor vehicle crashes, one of them an 18-year-old

James Unfreed, 18, of Pleasant Hill died on Oct. 23, when the motorcycle he rode collided with a car making a left in front of it.

The wreck happened about 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of Contra Costa Boulevard and Dexter Drive. Unfreed drove the motorcycle north and the other vehicle was heading south before making a left at the intersection.

The driver was uninjured and stayed to speak with police, authorities said.

Medics rushed Unfreed to John Muir Medical Center’s trauma unit in Walnut Creek. Authorities said he died there.

Authorities also identified 41-year-old Eduardo Anaya, of Escalon, as the driver who died on Oct. 26 in a three-car crash on Interstate 680. That wreck happened about 6 a.m. in the northbound direction near the Rudgear Road exit.

Nobody else in the crash suffered serious injuries, according to the CHP.

The CHP said they are seeking witnesses to help them understand how the crash unfolded. They encouraged those with any information to contact them at 320investigations@chp.ca.gov or 925-646-4980.
