Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1972 Jeep CJ-5. It sends the power from its AMC 304ci V8 to smooth roads and rugged trails through a three-speed manual gearbox and a two-speed transfer case. Finished in red and equipped with a black Bestop soft top with matching doors over a black vinyl interior, this AMC-era Jeep is now offered by the selling dealer with a tow bar and clear title.

Under previous ownership, the body was painted red in the 1990s; it was touched up and undercoated within the last four years. Exterior features include a new Bestop soft top with matching doors, a fold-down windshield, chrome mirror housings, new black fender flares, diamond-plate trim, and black bumpers with front tow bar brackets for the included tow bar.

A set of 15-inch wheels equipped with 235/75 Falken Wildpeak tires that were installed in October 2023 get this Jeep down the road and over challenging terrain.

The cabin is equipped with a pair of black vinyl Rugged Ridge low-back bucket seats, lap belts, power steering, a roll cage, an AM/FM/cassette radio, a passenger-side grab handle, and floor-mounted shifters for the transmission and transfer case.

Vehicle information is displayed on a 90-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. Auxiliary gauges show the oil pressure and amperage. The odometer indicates 68,114 miles, which is accurate, according to the selling dealer.

Under the hood is a 304ci V8 with 8.4:1 compression that was factory-rated at 150 horsepower at 4,200 rpm and 245 lb-ft of torque at 2,500 rpm. It comes equipped with a new two-barrel carburetor and paired with a three-speed manual gearbox and a dual-range transfer case. Other new parts include the aluminum radiator, headers, hoses, electric fan, and AAA battery. The selling dealer reports the engine was recently tuned up. The oil was changed and the fluids were topped off less than 100 miles ago.

A set of power drum brakes brings this CJ to a stop. Underpinnings consist of a steel-reinforced frame and a new muffler. Although the shocks are also new, the rear leaf springs need to be replaced.

The selling dealer notes additional areas in need of attention, such as touched-up scratches on the body, patched floor pan rust, and minor rust above the diamond-plate trim on the driver side.

The auction for this 1972 Jeep CJ-5 ends on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 11:15 a.m. (PDT).
