I was thrilled to catch up with Proofpoint top executives, recently, to discuss Proofpoint’s AI-powered solution and critical issues including data leakage and insider risks. In an era where digital threats and data leaks are increasingly sophisticated, organizations face growing challenges in protecting their data across various communication channels and ensuring employee compliance. Despite advancements in data loss prevention (DLP) technologies, only 38% of organizations report having a “mature” DLP program.

According to Proofpoint research, seven in 10 security professionals say workers at their organizations – not hackers – are the biggest threat to data security, highlighting an urgent need for more comprehensive approaches to data governance and security.

Proofpoint, Inc., a leader in cybersecurity and compliance, has expanded its platform capabilities, setting a new approach to protect data and minimize human risk. The company’s new Digital Communications Governance (DCG) offering aims to resolve the anxiety of modern communication governance by providing a unified platform that captures and manages communication data across over 80 channels—including emails, SMS, voice, social media, and collaboration and messaging apps.

Leveraging artificial intelligence, Proofpoint’s Digital Communications Governance suite has proven to reduce false positives and improve information discovery, making compliance easier and improving investigations readiness.

“From ransomware to Business Email Compromise to data loss, the most damaging cyber risks all center around humans and their identities,” said Sumit Dhawan, Chief Executive Officer of Proofpoint. “But human risk is difficult to tackle as we all work across email, collaboration apps, the cloud, and the web, creating threat risk, identity sprawl, and data exposure in new ways. Proofpoint pioneered human-centric security, and now we’re redefining it by uniting previously disparate processes and technologies into one unified platform to protect new digital channels, reduce risk for organizations, and better guide users in real-time, every day.”

The AI-driven solution of Proofpoint’s DCG provides real-time insights and alerts, allowing organizations to respond quickly and accurately to potential compliance risks. The platform increases the efficacy of supervisory review by 84% compared to traditional DCG solutions, and the platform’s AI engine creates contextualized insights covering every channel of communications data, making it extremely accurate and effective for organizations to save time.

Proofpoint Senior Vice President and General Manager of Archiving and Digital Communications Governance, Harry Labana, explains, “With the rapid proliferation of digital communication channels, organizations must consider how to effectively solve security and compliance challenges in a fast and high-efficacy way. Proofpoint’s DCG offering gives organizations the instant visibility and AI-driven insights they need to simplify delivery of a modern, secure, and compliant environment.”

Gartner projects 65% of enterprise customers will combine supervision of text and audio/video content by 2027, up from less than 15% in 2023. The need for efficient and seamless solutions to monitor communication is critical. An organization’s failure to adapt can not only set a company’s success back but can lead to major legal, financial, and reputational consequences.

In a digital world where compliance and security are crucial pain points for organizations, Proofpoint’s Digital Communications Governance offering stands out as an all-in-one solution, simplifying governance, enhancing oversight, and delivering accurate, timely insights about organizations’ regulatory risks.
