RICHMOND — A gas leak Thursday caused an hours-long road closure on a significant boulevard, police said.
In an advisory that went out at 11:39 a.m., police called the leak “significant” and that a main break caused it. The leak happened in the 2700 block of Florida Avenue, according to police.
Police said they closed Carlson Boulevard between Ohio and Pullman avenues, a stretch of road a little more than a mile long.
The closed stretch of road was not expected to be open again until at least 1:45 p.m.
Authorities did not announce any evacuations.
PG&E sent crews to the scene, and crews shut off the gas and examined to see if there was any damage. Richmond police, fire crews and a hazardous materials team all monitored the situation, authorities said.
