OAKLAND — A body was recovered by Oakland firefighters Thursday morning in San Francisco Bay near the Bay Bridge toll plaza, authorities said.
The body was recovered about 9:30 a.m. by the Fire Department’s marine unit in Bay waters north of the toll plaza after someone in a vehicle on westbound I-80 reported seeing it, authorities said.
No information was immediately released about the gender or possible age of the person.
The circumstances that led to the person’s death are under investigation.
Oakland police and deputies with the Alameda County Coroner’s Office were responding to the scene.
