Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions is offering four stunning performance vehicles from the Alan Smith Collection that will each be offered with No Reserve during the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, presented by Gila River Resorts & Casinos, Oct. 10-13 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Headlining the collection is a 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 (preview) known popularly as the Daytona Coupe, which represents the epitome of front-engine, rear-wheel-drive Grand Tourers of its era.
“The four vehicles from the Alan Smith Collection represent a unique era of sports car design and performance,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “The 365 GTB/4 Daytona is especially noteworthy because its design was a significant departure from previous roadgoing Ferraris.”
The 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona (preview) is powered by the original 4.4-liter V12 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission with matching numbers. It has been repainted in the original Fly Yellow with recent polish and detail, has a black interior and rides on chrome wire spoke wheels. It has 34,277 miles and includes a Marcel Massini report showing original options and ownership history.
The collection’s 1971 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 (preview) is powered by a matching-numbers powertrain, including the 4.4-liter V12 engine and 5-speed manual transmission. Recently serviced, it has 30,146 original miles and has been repainted from the original gold color to black over a black interior.
“The Alan Smith vehicles are truly remarkable and offer a piece of automotive history,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “The collection has a tremendous offering of American-powered sportscars, one of which is the 1966 GT40 MKII that was built to honor the 50thanniversary of Shelby American.”
The 1966 Shelby 50th Anniversary GT40 MKII (preview) is a tribute to the No. 1046 Ford GT40 driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is No. 14 of 20 units commissioned by Shelby American in 2016 and features gloss black paint with silver stripes and painted white No. 2 roundels. The GT40 MKII has 330 miles, includes a certificate of origin naming Shelby American and is Shelby Registry-eligible.
The 2012 Factory Five Type 65 Coupe (preview) in the collection is powered by a 7.0-liter FE427 big-block V8 engine with an estimated 520+hp that features Edelbrock aluminum heads, Borla stacked fuel injection, Haltech fuel management, an aluminum water pump, dual electric fans and a Bosch Extreme Pro fuel pump. This street-legal coupe was professionally built by Vintage Motorsports and includes build documentation and pictures.
