OAKLAND — A local resident was charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in the death of a passenger during a car wreck last year, records show.
Roling Hernandez-Dezleiva, 27, was charged in connection with a Nov. 19, 2023 crash in San Leandro. The victim was identified in court records as Jennifer Jiminez.
The charging documents say Hernandez-Dezleiva ran a red light on San Leandro Boulevard in San Leandro, while driving 57 mph in a 35 mph zone, and crashed his vehicle, killing Jiminez. He has been released while the case is pending, with an order from a judge to not “pick up any new speeding tickets” while he is out of jail.
At a recent court appearance, Hernandez-Dezleiva was denied enrollment in a misdemeanor diversion program, but the judge will allow his attorney to raise the issue again at a future date, according to the minute order.
