A 40-year-old man was arrested in Stockton on suspicion of shooting and killing a woman earlier this month, police said.
The suspect was arrested Tuesday and booked into San Joaquin County Jail. He is being held without bail and is suspected of numerous charges, including murder, possessing a gun as a prohibited person and inflicting bodily injury on a partner, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
Police responded to a call around 2 a.m. Aug. 3 that someone was shot at a residence on the 200 block of East Churchill Street. When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old Stockton woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital, but she later died from the gunshot wounds three days later on Aug. 6.
Police are still investigating the motive of the case.
