The Pick of the Day is a 41K-mile 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe listed for sale by a New York dealership on ClassicCars.com

There are certain car and color combinations that are iconic. Take the 2008 Mustang Bullitt – it’s hard to picture it in anything but Dark Highland Green. The natural color for the Plymouth Prowler is purple. And as shown by our latest Pick of the Day, a 41K-mile 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe, Guards Red is just right for 911s of the era.

Judging by the photos, the Guards Red on this Carrera 3.2 is in great shape. That’s not all that surprising considering it only has 41,630 miles on it and just came out of long-term storage.

As part of a mechanical refresh, it received an extensive array of updates. The sunroof was given a new seal and the 16-inch Fuchs wheels were equipped with new 205/55 Michelin XGT V4 front and 225/50 Fulda Carat Extremo rear tires. The air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-6 was removed for service and equipped with new belts, ignition wires, and fuel hoses. In addition, a new clutch and a new shifter bushing for the Getrag G50 five-speed manual gearbox were installed.

The cockpit looks just as preserved as the body. The black leatherette power-adjustable front and two-piece back seats are lustrous and free of rips and tears. Conveniences include power windows, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette radio.

Even the little things were looked after. This P-car comes with its original manuals, warranty card, and toolkit. You shouldn’t need that last part any time soon since this beaut got such a thorough series of mechanical updates. And you won’t need a vinyl wrap for it either because it comes in the perfect color. What you will need is $119,000 to become the next owner of this modern classic.
