Taste of Los Gatos

The Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce and its food and wine group are bringing a new, end-of-summer event to the town.

Taste of Los Gatos will shut down North Santa Cruz Avenue to vehicles on Sept. 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. from Main Street to Bachman Avenue in a street festival featuring live music, outdoor games and more. While admission the event is free, attendees can purchase wristbands that will give them access to drinks and snacks from restaurants from restaurants like Ambrosia India Bistro and Salt & Straw.

Wristbands are available in advance for $45 on the Chamber’s Eventbrite.com page, and will be available for $50 the day of the event. For more information, visit losgatoschamber.com.

‘Masked Ball’ lecture

The San Francisco Opera, in conjunction with the San Jose Opera Guild and the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center in Los Gatos, is hosting a lecture on “Un Ballo in Maschera,” or “A Masked Ball.” Verdi’s opera tells the story of the assassination of a Swedish king in 1792.

The lecture will take place on Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Addison-Penzak JCC. It’s free for members of the opera guild and the JCC, and $10 for nonmembers.
