Featured on AutoHunter.com, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1961 Corvette. Nineteen sixty-one was the last year for the 283, but this one now features a 327. Shifted by a close-ratio four-speed, this C1 also features aftermarket stereo with cassette, driver-side mirror, 15-inch Cragar S/Ss, and new-for-1961 courtesy lights. Painted red with white coves over a black vinyl interior, this Corvette comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.
The Roman Red exterior is complemented by White coves, one of 954 Corvettes painted in this combination. New for 1961 was a mesh grille and “Ducktail” rear with a pair of round taillights on each side, which would become a trademark that continues to this day. Features include a black soft top with plastic rear window, driver-side mirror, and dual exhausts. A previous owner added “fuel injection” emblems.
A set of fifteen-inch Cragar S/S mag wheels are wrapped in Grand AM 215/65 G/T radials.
The cabin is furnished with two black vinyl bucket seats with complementary door panels and dashboard. Interior features include aftermarket stereo with cassette, clock, Corvette three-spoke steering wheel, and center consolette with shifter.
The instrument panel consists of a 160-mph speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, and aftermarket gauges for the voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel. The odometer shows 250 miles, but the actual mileage is unknown.
The replacement 340-horsepower 327 small-block V8 features a single four-barrel carburetor. The four-speed manual features close ratios and synchromesh on all gears.
The underside features four-wheel drum brakes and a dual exhaust system that exists at the rear.
The auction for this 1961 Chevrolet Corvette convertible ends on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. (PDT).
