Over the past several months, we have served you various videos of Adrian Clements’ Yours in old FoMoCo iron… channel on YouTube. A hobbyist like you and me, Adrian has a grasp of the Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln marques that few can demonstrate. If you ever need a go-to resource for Blue Oval knowledge, Adrian’s channel is as worthy as anyone’s.
A prime example of the information available at your fingertips is Adrian’s four-part segment on FoMoCo engines available for 1970. Though often considered the high-water mark of the muscle car era, the bulk of 1970 production consisted of the bread-and-butter vehicles like a six-cylinder Maverick, 302-powered Torino, and 351-powered Galaxie 500.
Adrian’s segments are divided as follows:
- Six Cylinders
- Small V-8s
- Large V-8s (FE)
- Large V-8s (385 Series)
In particular, the Small V-8s video features the regular 302, Boss 302, 351 Windsor, and two 351 Clevelands (two- and four-barrel).
The FE series debuted in 1958 and, by 1970, included the 390-2V, 428 Police Interceptor, and 428 Cobra Jet V8s, plus the latter equipped with the Drag Pack.
The 385 Series was Ford’s modern big-block, which included the 429-2V, 429-4V, 429 Cobra Jet, Boss 429, and 460 V8s, plus CJs equipped with the Drag Pack.
Pick a video and dig in – it is guaranteed you will have an enjoyable ride.
