The Honda Civic Type R may get the most attention out of all its siblings because it has 315 horsepower and a big boy racer wing on the back, but let’s not forget about the Civic Si. For decades, it was the only high-performance version of the Civic we could officially get here in the U.S. Now that modern classic gets even better with a variety of visual, structural, and interior updates for the 2025 model year.

It would be misleading to call the refreshed Civic Si merely a facelift model. Sure, it’s available in Urban Gray Pearl for the first time and it has a restyled front fascia, a new grille with hexagon-patterned mesh, and revamped taillights with a dark tint. The matte black Si-specific 18-inch wheels have been redesigned and come equipped with either standard rubber or high-performance summer tires, too. But the Civic Si also has improvements under the skin that make it more solid. According to Honda, “New lower B-pillar and rear door sill supports increase torsional and bending rigidity.” In addition, the dampers have been retuned to fully capitalize on the upgraded stiffness.

Inside, there are new creature comforts and conveniences. Front occupants benefit from the new three-stage seat heating and USB-C charging ports. Vehicle information is displayed in the new 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, which has a large tachometer, a gear-position display, a new Shift Light Indicator, and a selection of auxiliary gauges, including readouts for the boost and g-forces. The nine-inch center touchscreen offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as Google built-in – a new addition for 2025. That provides access to conveniences such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, and apps on Google Play. Safety updates range from refinements to the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist System to the Collision Mitigation Braking System’s increased ability to see motorcycles and bicycles.

Although the turbocharged 1.5-liter I4’s output remains the same at 200 horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque, Honda did make an enhancement to the six-speed manual gearbox. Now the rev-matching function will blip the throttle during all downshifts, including those from 2nd to 1st gear.

You’ll be able to find the new and improved 2025 Civic Si in dealerships in early August 2024. Prices (including a $1,095 destination charge) start at $31,045 for the Si with regular tires and $31,345 for the Si on summer tires. Whichever one you choose, we have a feeling you’ll want to burn the rubber off it. The current version of the Civic Si is an addictive machine that makes dropping a gear to hammer the throttle again just as fun as full-throttle upshifts. The changes in store for the 2025 model should only make a great performance sedan even greater.
