Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this LS3-Powered 2014 Factory Five 33 Hot Rod.

“Built, not bought,” is the slogan for Factory Five Racing (known to many as “FFR”) which launched about 30 years ago and is based in Wareham, Massachusetts. Over the years, FFR has produced a number of component kit cars ranging from exotic-looking supercars, to roadsters, to retro-styled coupes such as this one. While its exterior conveys the aesthetic of a 90-year-old Ford, the architecture under the skin is all modern. The car is being listed by a private seller in Tucson, Arizona, and the auction will end on Monday.

Building a kit car is akin to reading a “Choose your own adventure” book. Everything about the build ends up being hand-selected: Paint, trim, powertrain, wheels, accessories, and other equipment. The theme for today’s car is an Army / military-inspired design with a matte green body and gloss black staggered 18-inch and 19-inch wheels. The two-seat interior is accented with camouflage upholstery for the door panels and the shift boot.

The crown jewel of the build is installed beneath the reverse-hinged hood: There resides a reportedly new LS3 6.2-liter V8 crate motor coupled with a new TREMEC TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission. I can only imagine what it feels like to have 495 horsepower on tap in a vehicle as small as this one. Factory Five says that the coupe with a V8 engine and a five-speed transmission will typically tip the scales at around 2,250 pounds. That means from a power-to-weight ratio perspective, this car can really scoot.

Luckily, there is an Auburn limited-slip rear end to get the torque to the rear wheels effectively. And of course, safety needs to be a top priority when a build produces this much power. With that in mind, the car comes with four-point racing harnesses and a set of Wilwood brakes to slow things down.

One final note: it’s important to note that this is a fair-weather toy. There is no air conditioning, no heater, and there are no side windows. It’s about as close as you can get to a street-legal go-cart. If raw power and fun-factor are enough to make up for the vehicle’s lack of amenities, this car is right up your alley. Without a doubt, it is a one-of-a-kind custom that is bound to turn heads everywhere you take it. Especially if you wear camo pants to match the interior.
