RICHMOND — Three people have been killed, including a pregnant woman in her 20s, in shootings that occurred nine hours apart in West Contra Costa, authorities said.

The violence started around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, near the intersection of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in the Iron Triangle area. Police say that four people were shot, and they responded after receiving an alert from a gunfire detection system.

Two of the four victims died, including a pregnant woman in her early 20s and a man whose name and age have not been made public, police said. Then, around midnight, authorities responded to a second report of a homicide in North Richmond, not far from the first shooting.

The woman was transferred to a hospital and died there, police said. The North Richmond victim’s age, gender, and name haven’t been made available.

Police haven’t said if they’ve pinpointed the motives, or how many shooters were involved, or if any of the victims were armed, or if the two shootings were connected.

No arrests have been made.
