REDWOOD CITY – A 33-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of setting a fire that destroyed a car early Wednesday morning in Redwood City, according to authorities.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1107 Second Ave., the Redwood City Police Department said in a news release.

A witness reported a fire in the parking lot and provided a description of a woman who was in the area.

Officers arrived to find the fire and a car engulfed in flames. They also located and detained a woman who matched a description provided by the witness, police said.

The witness gave investigators a video recording that showed the woman starting the fire in the parking lot and pouring a flammable liquid onto a car, which then ignited, police said.

The woman was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on charges including arson, vandalism and resisting arrest. At the time of the incident, she was out on bail for a previous felony criminal case, police said.

Jail records indicated the woman was still in custody Wednesday night. She is set to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
