Livermore police said on Thursday, May 2, 2024 that they were seeking Yonston Vazquez, 30, of Oakland, as a suspect in a double homicide that happened about 6:45 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Yonston Vazquez of Oakland.

The shooting happened about 6:45 a.m. Saturday at the La Quinta Inn on Southfront Road, police said.

Authorities said that inside a room at the motel, they found a 26-year-old Oakland woman and a 21-year-old Hayward man who had both been shot. They were pronounced dead in the room.

Their names were not released Thursday.

Police said the Criminal Investigations Bureau took over the investigation and identified Vazquez as the alleged suspect. Authorities did not specify a possible motive for the killings, but said it was later determined Vazquez knew one of the victims.

Anyone with information on Vazquez’s whereabouts is asked to call Livermore Police Department’s anonymous tip line at 925-371-4790.

The killings are the first and second homicides investigated by police this year.
