U.S. shouldn’t support
war crimes in Gaza
What does real moral leadership look like? A “no” vote on the recent House bill providing weapons to Israel. That’s what it looks like. Reps. Barbara Lee and Ro Khanna came through on this, but not Nancy Pelosi, Anna Eshoo or Kevin Mullin.
We commend many votes all five representatives have cast in the past, but Israel’s war against Palestine has gone well beyond self-defense and is patently criminal. Arming Israel makes us complicit in the wanton murder of innocent Palestinians and foreign aid workers alike.
It will take time for the International Court of Justice and the United Nations to address the crimes of Oct. 7 and Israel’s subsequent crimes, but when they do, the United States may easily be found guilty of aiding and abetting war crimes, and even genocide. Our country’s reputation requires an impartial commitment to human rights and the rule of international law, not facilitating mass murder.

cares not about policy
Marjorie Taylor Greene and the MAGA extremists aren’t being truthful about their disdain for the recent funding bill to support Ukraine and Israel. She argued that paying for foreign wars rather than using the money here to solve our problems is a wrong priority.
Don’t listen to their talk; watch their actions. This is the same party that wouldn’t pass a border security bill and continually votes down universal health care, minimum wage measures, food assistance programs and college loan forgiveness, in addition to pushing hard to eliminate Social Security and Medicare.

Mental health instruction
would benefit students
I passionately advocate for comprehensive mental health education programs in schools to ensure students receive the support they need.
By integrating mental health topics into the curriculum, students gain crucial skills like stress management and learn to identify signs of mental health challenges. Increased funding for counseling services guarantees access to professional support, fostering a safe and supportive environment for students to seek help. This proactive approach not only reduces stigma but also builds a foundation for a mentally healthy community.
Let’s prioritize mental well-being in schools for the sake of our students’ future success and happiness.
