Travis Kelce has picked up a new gig this offseason.
The Kansas City Chiefs star will be the host of “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” a 20-episode spin-off of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” that will premiere on Amazon Prime. No official air date has been announced.
“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are you Smarter than a Celebrity,” said Kelce in a news release Tuesday. “The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen, will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”

There are similar elements of the original game show, which premiered in 2007 for 27 million viewers.
Instead of school-age children helping an adult contestant, it will be celebrities who help them answer 11 questions on a variety of subjects. According to Prime, celebrities will be from “stage, screen, and sports,” all categories that fit Kelce and his pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift.
The questions will be pulled from an elementary curriculum. On the final question, which is at the sixth-grade level and worth the grand prize of $100,000, contestants can pick one celebrity to help them before they lock in the answer.
This is not the first — or likely last — time Kelce will host a program.
He had his own reality TV show in 2016 titled “Catching Kelce” which aired on the E! channel. Kelce also hosted “Saturday Night Live” in March 2023. He signed with CAA for off-field representation after his SNL appearance, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Barry Poznick, general manager of MGM Alternative and co-creator of the series, said that with “the ultimate class clown” Kelce hosting, viewers can expect the unexpected.
