SAN JOSE — A fire at a Willow Glen apartment complex led to a brief evacuation in the early morning hours on Sunday, San Jose Fire Department officials said.
Around 2:43 a.m., San Jose firefighters responded to a garage fire on the 1100 block of Brace Avenue. The fire was put out by 3:30 a.m.
No one was injured.
According to fire authorities, the fire began burning in an underground parking structure, damaging three cars, beneath a two-story apartment complex. The fire spread to one apartment, and another unit had to be ventilated for smoke.
The residents of the apartment complex were evacuated and temporarily took shelter at the Willow Glen Branch Library, officials said. Two people were displaced from the apartment that caught on fire, but they were able to stay with a neighbor, fire department officials said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
