On Thursday morning, Priscilla Bravo woke up to find that her restaurant, Skillet’z had been broken into, with the cash register, checks and other items gone missing.
“They stole everything we own, everything we worked for,” Bravo said in a video posted to Facebook. “They destroyed our whole restaurant.”
It was the first time that the breakfast diner in the historic Niles district — which Bravo has owned for a decade — has ever been burglarized. Other neighboring businesses were also broken into, KTVU reported.
But by Friday morning, Bravo and her staff had cleaned up the restaurant and had begun serving again.
“We stayed open, we’re not going to let anything stop us,” she said. Police have been supportive, she said, but have yet to identify any suspects.
The restaurant doesn’t have plans to host a fundraiser. Instead, Bravo hopes people will just come by to support the restaurant instead.
“We just want people to eat food and enjoy,” she said.
