Cold Stone Creamery, the folks who pioneered freshly made, customized ice cream, have opened two new shops in the South Bay, greatly increasing the company’s presence in this region.

The new locations — at The Plant in San Jose and at City Square Center in Milpitas — join the existing shops at the Rivermark center and Westfield Valley Fair mall in Santa Clara, Westfield Oakridge mall in San Jose and the Great Mall in Milpitas.

Among the most popular signature ice cream flavors are the Chocolate Devotion, Oreo Overload, Strawberry Blonde and Founder’s Favorite, a combination of sweet cream, caramel, fudge, pecans and brownies. Besides creating signature or personalized flavors on a granite slab, the shops also make ice cream cakes, ice cream cookie sandwiches, smoothies with real fruit and juice and milkshakes.

Limited-time offerings include the Lucky Charms and Going Bananas for Jell-O Pudding ice cream flavors.

Cold Stone was founded in Tempe, Arizona, by a couple of ice cream lovers who craved fresh scoops that were neither hard pack nor soft serve. The company is now headquartered in Scottsdale.
