Cleveland Cavaliers star guard Donovan Mitchell received a platelet-rich plasma injection on Monday to treat a bone bruise in his left knee and will be out at least the next three games, the team announced.

Mitchell has missed the last two games with knee soreness. He will also be out for Tuesday’s game against the Boston Celtics, Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks and Friday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Mitchell’s status will be reevaluated over the weekend, according to the team.

Mitchell, 27, is in the midst of another excellent season, averaging 28 points to go along with 6.2 assists and 5.4 rebounds and has helped carry an oft-injured Cavs team to a top three seed in the East.

The Cavaliers enter Monday night 0.5 game back of the Milwaukee Bucks for the No. 2 seed and are four game up in the loss column from the New York Knicks, who are fourth.
