NEWARK — A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday evening in Newark, authorities said.
He was identified by the coroner’s bureau Monday as Ariel Moreno, 26, of San Jose.
The fatality happened about 8:27 p.m. Sunday near Haley Street.
Authorities said Moreno was on the tracks when he was hit by an Amtrak Coast Starlight train traveling from Los Angeles to Seattle. He died at the scene.
Amtrak officials said none of the 164 passengers and crew on the train were injured.
Service was delayed while Amtrak and Newark police investigated.
