Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie SLT 4×4.

The 1990s marked an important evolutionary time in the history of pickup trucks. Creature comforts were added, design language became rounder, technology advanced, and all of the “Big Three” domestic manufacturers had strong contenders in the hot segment.

It was Chrysler that hit the biggest home run in 1994 with a new generation of Dodge Ram pickup. Fittingly for a baseball reference, the truck’s design language was called “Louisville Slugger.” A cherry-looking and well-kept example of a Ram from this generation is being sold by a dealer in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and the auction ends on Monday.

The Ram series of trucks has been around for over 40 years and across five generations. In the mid-1990s, the truck took on a bold new redesign a strong front end that drew influence from big-rig semis. The change paid off: Ram was proclaimed Truck of the Year by Motor Trend in 1994, and sales climbed upward in subsequent years to a peak of over 400,000 units in 1999.

Adding to the notoriety of this generation of Ram truck was that it was prominently featured as the hero vehicle in the 1996 film “Twister.” Specifically, the movie truck was a Flame Red extended-cab Ram 2500 Laramie SLT with a Magnum 8.0-liter V10. Inclusion of the pickup was a deliberate act of product placement since Chrysler supplied the truck (actually, more than one truck) for the film. Here is a seven-minute montage of some of the scenes featuring the truck.

Getting back today’s featured rig, it shares a lot of the same look as the movie truck, but it has a regular-cab layout and two-tone paint. The clean CARFAX report shows that it was Illinois-owned until 2023 and has not been in any accidents. The Magnum 5.2-liter V8 under the hood has accrued 118,124 miles, and it distributes power to all four corners through a four-speed automatic. Some service history is included with the listing, including the fact that the truck received maintenance in 2023 and work to the braking system in 2021.

If you’re feeling adventurous and want to pretend that you’re Bill Paxton or Helen Hunt, this might be just the truck for you. The weather forecast calls for lots of fun storm-chasing with this one!
