The B-52s are set to headline the 2024 Mosswood Meltdown.

The iconic new wave act tops an amazing lineup that also includes Hunx & His Punx, Big Freedia, Redd Kross, Bush Tetras and, of course, John Waters, who will once again serve as the host for the two-day event, July 6-7, at Mosswood Park in Oakland.

“It’s musical mayhem time for multiple maniacs in Oakland once again, and I’m proud to be hosting from the gutter for the 10th time! Mosswood Meltdown — our days to shine in the punk grime,” Waters said in a news release announcing the lineup on Thursday (Feb. 1).

It’s hard to do anything other than shine when the B-52s take the stage, the band that formed in 1976 in Athens, Georgia, is known for such danceable new wave songs as “Rock Lobster,” “Planet Claire,” Roam,” “Private Idaho,” and of course “Love Shack.” The band retired from touring in 2022 but has been on a Las Vegas residency since 2023.

Other acts on the bill include Pure Hell, Gibby Haynes and the Paul Green Rock Academy and Cher Strauberry with her new project WIFEY.

Tickets start at $139 and are on sale through mosswoodmeltdown.com.
