Nearly three months after the release of John Stamos’ tell-all memoir, his ex-wife, Rebecca Romijn, has finally admitted that she was “shocked” by some of the things he wrote about her, including his allegations that she was unfaithful and that she didn’t think he was smart enough for her.

“I was sort of blindsided by it,” Romijn told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet for the Critics Choice Awards over the weekend.

“I was very surprised by all of that, incredibly shocked actually,” the Berkeley-reared “X-Men” star also said. The one-time Victoria’s Secret model and the former “Full House” star began dating in 1994, married in 1998, separated in April 2004 and were divorced the following year.

“But you know, I don’t really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines. So that’s all I really want to say about it,” concluded Romijn, who currently stars in Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.”

In Stamos’ book, “If You Would Have Told Me,” he wrote about the emotional turmoil of Romijn’s alleged betrayal, Page Six reported. He said, “Betrayal starts as a sinking feeling in your stomach, grows into a suspicion that clouds your every thought, and by the time you find out the truth, it’s uniquely horrible at first but also expected, like you’ve been waiting for something bad to happen.”

Stamos also wrote that Romijn would imply, “sometimes subtly and sometimes openly,” that he wasn’t smart enough for her and her entourage, Page Six reported. While promoting the book, he furthermore admitted that he sometimes felt “emasculated” by her and her talent.

During an interview on “The Howard Stern Show,” Stamos said he loved Romijn, thought she was “super talented” and was “happy” to put his own career on the back-burner while “the spotlight was on her,” Page Six reported. “Full House” had wrapped, and he felt he had enjoyed “enough fame.” At first, he said he “loved” watching his wife’s success until he saw that she “outgrew him.”

“I forgot about my own stuff,” Stamos told Stern, according to Page Six. “She was taking off and I just wasn’t paying attention to mine. And it wasn’t her fault.”

But Stamos also admitted to People that he came to view her as “the devil” during their divorce.

“I just hated her,” he told People. “I couldn’t believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life.”

“It was very much the opinion that she dumped me because her career was going great and mine wasn’t,” Stamos said, while he admitted he had not seen his ex-wife since their meeting with divorce lawyers. “I don’t blame her for it. It was just the perception that people took.”

For Stamos, the divorce “was shattering,” and he started drinking heavily, but he told People that he eventually came to recognize his part in the breakup.

“You start thinking, it’s like, ‘Oh, she wasn’t the devil. Maybe I was as much to blame as her,’” Stamos said.

After the book was published in October, Romijn declined to comment. But her husband, Jerry O’Connell, made it clear in November that he had not read Stamos’ memoir and had no plans to do so, Entertainment Tonight reported.

Speaking on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM radio show, O’Connell said, “There was an interest in my household, but it’s so funny, after hearing his interview beginning to end on ‘The Howard Stern Show,’ any interest of reading the book went away.”

Romijn and O’Connell tied the knot in 2007, while Stamos found love again with Caitlin McHugh, marrying in February 2018 and welcoming a son named Billy two months later, ET reported.
