
Two children were injured in a shooting on Interstate 880 near Hesperian Boulevard Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Hayward-area CHP officers responded to the shooting at about 7:05 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had been traveling northbound had pulled over. According to Officer Andrew Barclay, two juveniles in the back seat had been struck by gunfire and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital.
All lanes of northbound I-880 were closed for half an hour. Detectives remained on the scene to investigate.
There have been numerous deadly and non-fatal shootings on freeways in the East Bay over the years.
