The first exchange-traded funds in the U.S. holding spot bitcoin started trading Thursday after getting the greenlight from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Ten registration statements from bitcoin ETFs were declared effective late Wednesday, regulatory filings on the SEC’s website show. Share prices for many of the bitcoin ETFs were recently trading below their opening prices, according to data from FactSet.
BlackRock’s bitcoin ETF traded at $26.60 a share, down 4.8% from its opening price of $27.94, according to FactSet.
