Sometimes a custom build takes things so far that perhaps the only things still “original” to a vehicle’s manufacture date are its VIN and a few body panels. Such might be the case with this heavily modified truck – everything has been upgraded including its chassis, running gear, body, and interior. The result is a unique and stunning vehicle that would turn heads at any car show.
This truck comes from the “Task Force” series of light and medium-duty pickups which were produced from 1955 through 1959. Design and engineering during this era marked a shift from the previous “Advance Design,” and there were big improvements put into place: Among them were optional V8 engines, power steering, power brakes, and 12-volt electrical systems. With these add-ons, General Motors’ truck lineups had begun to take on creature comforts like its cars had – and the motoring public loved it.
Regardless of its accolades and improvements, automotive customizers throughout history have never been satisfied to leave well enough alone. With that in mind, today’s feature truck went through a top-to-bottom, inside-and-out restomod treatment that incorporated LED lighting, a TCI chassis, shaved emblems, an oak pickup bed, and a dual exhaust system. The interior of the cab received diamond-stitched two-tone upholstery throughout, and it comes with air conditioning, a tilt steering wheel, a Bluetooth stereo, and power windows.
The crown jewel of this truck’s treasure chest is its motor. Under the hood, we find a 383cid stroker V8 with a long list of enhancements including chrome valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, custom headers, an MSD ignition system, an aluminum radiator, and much more. Torque goes rearward through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a set of slotted aluminum wheels on beefy Nitto tires. The selling dealer has provided a video showing the exterior, interior, and engine bay.
If you have ever wanted to own a vintage Chevy pickup with the performance of a muscle car and the conveniences of a modern daily driver, this 3200 pickup should fit the bill nicely. Best of all, it has driven just 616 miles since restoration. What was old has become new once again.
