Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley announced in February that she’s running for president in 2024.
She was the first Republican to jump into the presidential race this year, joining former President Donald Trump, who launched his bid in 2022.
Haley served in the Trump administration as US ambassador to the United Nations.
She is one of two Indian Americans to have served as governor of a US state. Before she was governor, she was a state representative.
