Theft by false pretenses: A Saratoga resident called a telephone number found online, believing he was calling his bank. Instead, the victim called the suspects, who acted as bank agents and ultimately convinced the victim to wire money to an unknown account for a total loss of about $15,000.

Identity theft: Someone used a Saratoga resident’s personal information to access their rideshare account and obtained money from the account for a total loss of about $1,565.
Reckless evading: At 1:51 p.m., deputies responded to an automated license plate reader notification for a wanted vehicle at Saratoga Avenue and Highway 85. An investigation revealed the vehicle was still wanted for its connection to a felony crime. The vehicle was located a short time later, and deputies attempted to stop it, but the driver did not yield and recklessly evaded, and the pursuit was ultimately terminated in the interest of public safety.
Stolen vehicle, vehicle tampering, reckless evading, delaying/obstructing a peace officer: At 11:49 p.m., deputies observed the suspect inside a stolen vehicle parked on the shoulder of Highway 85 at Prospect Road. An investigation revealed the vehicle was previously stolen from San Jose and was still outstanding. As deputies approached, the suspect entered a nearby vehicle, also parked on the shoulder of the highway, and fled the scene at excessive speeds. The suspect’s vehicle was located abandoned a short time later, and the suspect was located a short time after that. The stolen vehicle was found with the ignition punched and towed from the scene. The suspect was arrested.

Stolen license plate: Someone stole the rear license plate from a vehicle parked in the 12000 block of Saratoga Avenue.
Dec. 14
DUI, non-injury collision: At 12:29 AM, deputies responded to a vehicle collision at Aspesi and Quito roads where a motorist hit a parked car. An investigation revealed the motorist was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested.
DUI: At 10:39 p.m., deputies stopped a motorist at Cox Avenue and Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road for traffic violations. An investigation revealed the motorist was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested.

Petty theft, theft by credit card: Someone stole a Saratoga resident’s wallet from her purse for a loss of about $15. The suspect then used credit cards from the wallet to make fraudulent purchases of an unknown amount.
Residential burglary: Between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 14000 block of Carnelian Circle by breaking a window. The house was searched, but details of any stolen property weren’t provided.

Identity theft: Someone used a Saratoga resident’s personal information to access their airline rewards account and redeemed miles for a loss valued at approximately $457.

DUI, possession of controlled substances: At 10:33 p.m., deputies stopped a motorist at Saratoga Avenue and Vineyard Lane for equipment and traffic violations. An investigation revealed the suspect was driving under the influence of narcotics and was in possession of cocaine and heroin. The suspect was arrested.
