MOUNTAIN VIEW – A driver hit and killed a woman Monday morning in the Mountain View Walmart parking lot, police said.
The fatal collision happened around 6 a.m., just as the store located in the 600 block of Showers Drive was about to open, the Mountain View Police Department said.
A woman in her 60s was in the middle of the lot when she was hit by an employee arriving for work, police said, adding that the lot was “dark and densely covered in fog.”
Police said the woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release her identity once it is confirmed and her next of kin is notified.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
Additional details about the traffic fatality, including what the woman was doing in the lot at the time of the collision, were not immediately available Monday evening.
