SAN LEANDRO — East Bay prosecutors on Wednesday charged a second man with robbing and fatally shooting a San Leandro barber inside his shop in late October, police said.

Guillermo Camacho, 26, of Oakland, was arrested Monday in Oakland, according to the San Leandro Police Department. He was driving a stolen car, police said, adding that a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine was found inside the vehicle.

In addition to robbery and murder, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Camacho with assault with a firearm, auto theft and weapons violations, according to police.

On Oct. 25, two suspects entered the Harrison Brothers barbershop, located at 2240 East 14th St., and “brandished firearms to commit a robbery,” police said in a news release Wednesday. The suspects then allegedly pistol-whipped the barber, identified as 47-year-old Johnathan Jabari Clay, and robbed him of his personal belongings.

During the robbery, Clay drew a firearm of his own and fired at the suspects, who shot back at him, according to police. Clay was killed and a customer was injured.

Detectives quickly identified one of the suspects as Alexis Garcia, 26, of Oakland. He was arrested two days later in Oakland and charged with murder, second-degree robbery, three counts of assault with a firearm and one count of illegal gun possession.

Police said detectives went on to identify Camacho as a second suspect in the case.
