I have a 1965 Dodge Coronet I bought from my father. My dad and his best friend, Elvin Phillip, did good with trading the car between themselves from 1989 to 2004. He finally wound up with the car when Elvin lost his sight and could not drive. Dad never really raced the car, however he had more fun taking family, grandkids and friends for quarter mile passes in it. When it came to the Coronet, I did not want it to leave the family, so I offered to buy it from him.
In February of this year, my dad passed away. It was the worst day of my life, but I’ve been working on the Coronet to make changes to make it faster and look more like the gasser he never got. The most recent addition was getting the car lettered to tribute him. Funny thing is, the one thing he said I could not do with the car was install a Hemi. Dads, right?
