Taliban forces are reportedly patrolling the streets of Kabul, Afghanistan, in groups of rollerblading soldiers while hitching rides with Ford trucks.
Videos have surfaced of a platoon of wheeling, AK-47-wielding soldiers in what appears to be the capital of Afghanistan, showing the Taliban’s security forces patrolling the busy streets of Kabul. The trucks appeared to have sirens blaring as they made their way through crowded intersections, with campaign-style music attached to the video.
As reported by Task & Purpose, the video featured several Ford pickup trucks converted into what are typically referred to as a technical, or a non-standard tactical vehicle, which is a pickup truck outfitted with a machine gun of some kind.
The rollerbladers are seen skitching as well, a term used for holding onto a vehicle while on a bike, skateboard, or rollerblades to ride alongside it.
The video was posted by a man who calls himself a “parkour athlete in Afghanistan” and has garnered over 110,000 views at the time of this publication.
“The first part of the military performance of figure skating in the streets of Kabul,” the video’s caption read.
The trucks and some soldiers reportedly donned flags of a crossed swords emblem and the Shahada, an Islamic creed that translates to “I bear witness that there is no God but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”
The Afghani soldiers wore desert camouflage, with several having an attached black and white velcro flag of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. This is the official name of Afghanistan that was applied after the Taliban regained control of the country following the United States’ botched withdrawal in 2021.
The imagery of American trucks perhaps serves as a reminder of the military equipment left in Afghanistan after President Biden’s pullout.
“This month marks the second anniersary of Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. … Thirteen brave service members were killed,” Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis posted to X, formerly Twitter.
“Intelligence warnings that the Taliban would quickly take over were ignored. Billions of dollars in U.S. military equipment were gifted to the Taliban,” he continued.
“Since one of the worst foreign policy failures in U.S. history, our enemies including China, Russia, and Iran have become more emboldened. Afghanistan has once again become a terror safe haven as the Taliban eliminates rights for women under its tyranny. It is a disgrace no one has been held accountable,” DeSantis added.
