SAN JOSE – A driver hit and killed a pedestrian Monday night in South San Jose, according to police.
The collision was reported around 9:35 p.m. at Chesbro Avenue and Blossom Hill Road.
The pedestrian, identified only as a woman, was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the San Jose Police Department said in a social media post late Monday.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the woman’s identity after it is confirmed and her next of kin is notified.
The death marked the 45th traffic fatality of the year on city streets. Police had investigated 58 roadway deaths at this time last year.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to police.
