New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ new appointee for chair and executive director of the city’s Commission on Racial Equity has a distinguished history of spewing antisemitic rhetoric.
The New York Post reported that Linda Tigani, who earned more than $140,000 in 2022 as acting chief equity and strategy officer for the city’s Health Department, has shared a number of posts on X that appear to be antisemitic.
She has apparently used the phrase, “from the river to the sea,” which has turned into a battle cry by Hamas terrorists who wish to annihilate Israel.
She took to X on July 1, 2020, writing “FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA! PALESTINE WILL BE FREE!!” The post appears to only be available to those whom Tigani has given permission, but it apparently included a video clip from the so-called “Day of Rage” rally in Brooklyn, where protesters chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”
The Post noted that Tigani has used social media to repost video footage drawing attention to the Israeli attacks against Palestinians earlier this year. However, she failed to make mention of the acts of terrorism that Hamas has carried out against the Jewish state.
Despite Tigani’s apparent support of Palestinians over Israel, she has failed to publicly condemn the attacks Hamas carried out against Israelis on October 7, where 1,400 Israelis were slaughtered. There were also an unknown number of people taken hostage in the surprise attack.
The purpose of the independent Commission on Racial Equity is to engage with those who live in New York to decide on how to develop the city’s racial equity priorities, which have been controversial, according to the Post.
City Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli has drawn attention to the irony Tigani has shown in the past, saying: “So the wokester who is supposed to call out racism has spewed some racist antisemitic garbage.”
“‘Hypocrite’ is probably the only thing I can call her that The Post won’t bleep out,” he add, when discussing the situation with the Post.
There has been massive support for Palestine among left-leaning Americans, who apparently believe that Israel is a colonial power. However, these same Americans have failed to condemn the behavior on the part of Hamas and other militant groups in the Middle East.
Antisemitic chants and rhetoric has also ripped through Europe since Hamas’ attack on Israel, and Jews have been told in some areas to stay inside amid potential violence that could break out against them.
