The Arizona Diamondbacks are World Series bound!

They secured their ticket to the Fall Classic with a 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 7 on Tuesday night. The Diamondbacks last won the World Series in 2001, which was the franchise’s fourth season in Major League Baseball.

Arizona started the postseason 4-0 on the road, but had to deal with some adversity after being outscored 15-3 in the first two games of the National League Championship Series. However, with 11 home runs by players 23 or younger, the Diamondbacks scored when it mattered most. They outscored the Phillies 9-3 in Games 6 and 7 to close the series. Ketel Marte‘s hot bat led the way with a hit in all of his 16 career postseason games.

Arizona will face the Texas Rangers in the first World Series between two wild-card teams since 2014.

The NLCS win made waves on social media with some of Arizona’s biggest fans sending congratulatory messages to the D-backs.
