Washington state police released video from an attempted home invasion where the homeowner was able to fire at three armed men who broke down his door.
The incident unfolded at about 2 a.m. on Thursday morning in the city of Auburn near Seattle, according to police.
One of the three masked men yelled, “Seattle Police!” before they started to violently kick at the door and try to ram it open. About 18 seconds into the 28 second video, gunshots can be heard and the glass window on the outside door shatters.
The three men quickly ran away as the gunshots continued.
“The homeowner was armed and quickly started firing shots at the intruders through the door. After multiple shots were fired, the three suspects fled,” read a statement from Auburn police. “APD Detectives are working hard to try to identify the three suspects in this case.”
Despite the numerous shots fired, no one was injured according to police.
The residents of the home told KOMO-TV that the suspects fired at their home as they ran away and they also knocked down some fencing on their way out.
A neighbor who did not want to be identified said they were awakened by the sound of gunfire.
“We heard a bullet go through our window and our alarm started going off and then I just heard an exchange of gunfire just a bunch of bullets,” he told KOMO.
He went on to say the incident was shocking because the neighborhood is rather secluded.
“You assume you’re safe, you assume it wouldn’t happen to you and even though it didn’t happen directly to me, it’s close enough where we saw the impact in our living room,” he added.
The Auburn police are asking for help from the public to identify any of the three attempted robbery suspects involved.
