An 18-year-old female was killed and a 17-year-old female was wounded in East Oakland on Saturday night, after an altercation turned into a shooting in the 10800 block of Bancroft Avenue.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., authorities said. After being injured, the 17-year-old found her way to a hospital, where she was treated for gunshot wounds and released. The death of the 18-year-old female was the 102nd homicide recorded in Oakland this year.
As of Sunday morning, it was not clear whether the two teens were the intended targets of the shooting or whether they knew each other, and no other deaths or injuries had been reported.

On the same night, another teenager — this time, an 18-year-old male — was shot in the 600 block of the city’s Beacon Street after an altercation turned to gunfire. Authorities said the individual was taken to the hospital. He has since been listed in stable condition. No motive or suspect information has been released, nor has an arrest been made.
