Serra rolled through another West Catholic Athletic League opponent on Saturday, scoring 27 points in the opening quarter on its way to a 54-16 rout at home of Bellarmine.

The victory was the San Mateo powerhouse’s 11th in a row in league play, all by double digits, and seventh in succession to start this season as the Padres are seemingly in the express lane, on the path to adding more championship banners to the school’s gymnasium.

Next up: Archbishop Riordan, at home on Saturday. Riordan is the only other undefeated team in WCAL play.

Many of Serra’s key players contributed against Bellarmine. Jabari Mann blocked a punt and retrieved the ball for a touchdown. Joseph Latu scored on a 54-yard touchdown run. Kyon Loud crossed the goal line on a 14-yard TD reception.

Serra led 41-9 at halftime and 48-16 after three quarters.

The Padres (7-0) have beaten their first four WCAL opponents this season – Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Francis, Archbishop Mitty, Bellarmine – by an average score of 51 to 8.

They will be heavily favored to win next week and through the Central Coast Section playoffs before receiving an invitation to play in the California Interscholastic Federation Open Division state championship game for the third consecutive season.

Bellarmine, under first-year coach David Diaz-Infante, fell to 1-6, 0-4.

Parker Threatt threw two touchdown passes for the Bells, one to Zayne St. Laurent from 49 yards out in the second quarter and the other to Antonio Serrania in the third.
