There will be no high school football state championship games in Northern California this season.

The California Interscholastic Federation announced on Tuesday that all 15 state championship bowl games will be played at community colleges in Southern California on Dec. 8-9.

The host schools will be El Camino College in Torrence, Pasadena City College and Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.

Saddleback has played host to the five upper-division state title games the past two seasons, including Serra’s losses to Mater Dei-Santa Ana in 2021 and St. John Bosco-Bellflower in 2022.

With the upper-division games in the South, the remaining divisions had been played at home sites in the North. Bellarmine and Santa Teresa, for instance, played state title games in San Jose last fall.

When the upper-division games were played at Sacramento State, the lower-division games were held at home sites in the South.

The CIF announced that it was moving its championships to three host venues at its council meeting in April.

The sites became official on Tuesday.

The regional title games in both the North and South will continue to be played at home sites, the CIF said. They will be held this season on Dec. 1-2.

The matchups for the regionals will be announced on Nov. 26.

The CIF will announce division venues and the schedule for the state games on Dec. 3.
