Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera S.
This low-mileage, well-optioned black-on-black Cabriolet has enjoyed California ownership since new and is being offered by a selling dealer in Woodland Hills with service records, a window sticker, and two keys. The AutoHunter auction ends tomorrow, September 18.
This ragtop falls under the “997” internal designation for the Porsche 911 model which was produced between 2005 and 2012. Production took place in Stuttgart, Germany and body styles were available in coupe, convertible, and Targa variants. One of the noteworthy changes from the prior generation was that the 997’s headlights took on a round shape as opposed to the prior ones. All versions came with an active rear spoiler. Fun fact: The cabriolet’s spoiler was designed to elevate higher than the coupe’s to compensate for diminished drag when compared to the slippery coupe silhouette.
One of the handy things about Porsche models is that we can readily identify factory-installed equipment based on VIN reference websites. When I paste this car’s number into VIN Analytics, it shows that the car was produced in July 2006 and had an original retail price of $100,315.00. The long list of options included the Sport Chrono Package Plus, navigation, a Bose high-end sound system with a six-disc changer, and 19-inch sport wheels.
The car shows temperate California-kept ownership since new: It started life in Beverly Hills (90210!) and was serviced there by its first owner for five years until 2012. According to the CARFAX report, maintenance was dealer-performed and diligently kept up, including replacement of the intake manifold gaskets, alternator, PCV valve, and other components after only about 30,000 miles. The car later moved south to northern San Diego County, and it was last seen in the Palm Springs area. Within the last 2,000 miles, the car received a major service including an oil change along with replacement of the serpentine belt, water pump and gasket, spark plugs, and antifreeze.
No sports car is complete without a potent powerplant to back up those sexy looks. Power for this car comes from a 355-horsepower rear-mounted “M97” 3.8-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Showing just 69,700 miles on the odometer, this 911 has a lot of life left to live. Place a bid, win the car, and take it to the streets of Beverly Hills like you own the place!
