SANTA CLARA – A 22-year-old Santa Clara man was arrested in connection with a stabbing over the weekend in the city, police said.

The stabbing happened around 11 p.m. Saturday behind the Normandy House Lounge at 30 Washington St., Santa Clara police Lt. Mike Crescini said in a news release.

Crescini said officers detained a man at the scene. While investigating the stabbing, they learned that a person had arrived at a hospital with multiple stab wounds.

An update on the person’s condition was not immediately available.

The detained man was identified as a suspect in the stabbing, Crescini said. He was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail on a charge of attempted murder.
