A San Jose man was killed in a vehicle crash on Thursday morning in San Martin, the California Highway Patrol said.
The wreck occurred around 1:12 a.m. at the intersection of Monterey Highway and Highland Avenue, after the driver of a Ford F-150 ran a red light and crashed into a Kia Forte.
The Kia driver, a 48-year-old San Jose resident, was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
The Ford driver, a 59-year-old San Jose man, suffered head trauma and was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment, the CHP said. Two passengers in the Ford — a 36-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, both San Jose residents — suffered minor injuries.
The CHP is investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
Any witnesses are asked to contact CHP Officer J. Lucio at 408-427-0700.
