Instead of raising fees,
streamline transit

Re: “Stalled bridge toll hike indicates public’s discontent” (Page A12, Aug. 27).

I am glad to see that the $1.50 rate hike bill has been paused.

We cannot just keep piling taxes upon taxes and fees upon fees to solve these transit issues. I would like to see the various transit agencies have their systems reviewed as there seems to be a lot of overlap of services/routes.

Until we have a unified discussion, all the agencies will keep competing against each other, vying for more tax money instead of figuring out how to combine and streamline.

Biden’s experience
makes him best choice

Re: “Democrats need a new standard bearer” (Page A12, Aug. 27).

Mr. Lane is looking for a “younger person” to replace Biden in his letter. Just “younger”?

How about Elon Musk? He’s a younger person. Or maybe Majorie Taylor Green. No? How about George Santos; he’s young with fresh ideas.

It is time to pay attention to the benefits of age. You learn what works. Biden has it. He’s accomplished more in his tenure than a younger person can dream. He’s had more successes than Donald Trump has indictments.

We need a superb manager as president. Biden has both the experience and the dreams to take us to Obama’s “Promised Land.”

Georgia helps Trump
grift with mug shot

Re: “Trump surrenders in Georgia elections case” (Page A1, Aug. 25).

Is the Fulton County, Ga., Sheriff’s Office in cahoots with the Trump organization?

When have you seen a mug shot that shows the criminal in a suit and tie glaring petulantly into the camera? Right. Never. The criminal, in all other cases, is stripped to a T-shirt and stands back to wall with chin up and eyes directed straight ahead, not always in line with the camera.

Georgia officials helped a hapless Donald J. Trump turn a disgraceful moment into a money maker. He used the picture to fleece his followers of their money to support his campaign of lies.

Biden made best
of bad situation

Re: “Pullout from Afghanistan could cost Biden reelection” (Page A7, Aug. 30).

Marc Thiessen makes the statement that if Biden loses the presidency, it will be because of Kabul. Huh? I don’t think so.

As bad as the exit was most Americans are grateful to be out of there after a 20-year unwinnable war. There was no easy exit. But of course, the right has to milk it for all they can.

He also states that Biden is one of the most unpopular presidents since WWII. In the MAGA world, which is getting farther and farther from reality every day, you can count on it. Time to bring out Benghazi and Hillary’s emails, Mr. Thiessen.

Joe is far and away the better choice for president again. He is in no way diminished. I listen to him speak and he sounds just fine, thanks.
